Receiving their Black Belts were: Kendo Sensei, Mr. David S. and Mr. Joseph S. Receiving her Brown Belt was: Kendo Sempai, Miss Narinthip (Oil) C. Congratulations and Well Done!

Everyone is asked to take some time to offer a very special congratulations to His Majesty the King of Thailand, during the 60th year celebrations of His ascension to the throne, and to ask for His continued good health and reign. Also, both Renshi Tom and i extend our best wishes to the Thai members of our Club. "LONG LIVE THE BELOVED KING OF THAILAND"!

Due to the hard work of Sempai David and Sempai Joseph during university club recruitment week, our Club now has 39+ new members enrolled, including new members signed-up from the Kendo Club. Please join Renshi Tom and i in congratulating them for a job well done!

Let's extend our sincere Congratulations to Sempai David S. and Mr. Alex K., for their completion of and ranking as Official Instructors and Referees of Sports Chanbara, the International Sports Chanbara Association. Both men personally travelled to Japan to learn, and participate in several Sports Chanbara competitions before being ranked. These rankings in Sports Chanbara, are in total, equal to Dan grades, which allows them to teach, certify and officiate. Well Done Gentlemen!

Let's all give our sincere Congratulations and Well Done, to the following club members, who between 9-14 May 2006, underwent advancement pre-tests, and were awarded coloured tabs, and are now to be considered as:

Mr. David S. (Orange Belt-Green Tip)
Mr. Joseph S.(Orange Belt-Green Tip)
Mr. Morgan H.(Orange Belt-Green Tip)
Miss Oil C. (Orange Belt-Green Tip)
Mr. Alfie P. (Orange Belt-Green Tip)
Mr. Shan S. (Orange Belt-Green Tip)

Mr. Yang L. (Yellow Belt-Orange Tip)
Mrs. Lisa H. (Yellow Belt-Orange Tip)

These coloured tabs awarded, are affixed on the tips the member's present belts held (*one or two tips), and indicates: 1) technical proficiency through continued training and practise as required, 2) maturity in their present belt levels held, and 3) fulfillment of both time and continued training at their present belt levels.

These tab awards allows the member to be duly recognised for their ongoing accomplishments and dedication to training, and indicates to the Chief Instructor (Renshi Dr. Tom), that they are ready to test for advancement to the next appropriate belt rank level as indicated.

Let us now focus on strengthening and supporting the club, especially in preparation for November's Jiu-Jitsu and Karate Tournament, the first of its kind, and the first at ABAC, by having regular Club Committee meetings to discuss and begin planning for member recruitment (freshmen) and fundraising (June & July). Remember, all club members can communicate via the Yahoo! Group Website for easy access to each other, and for everyone to be aware, and to become active!

The exams will begin Saturday, 04 March 2006 (15.00-17.00), until the end of March. The next exam period will be in June, so if you have been training for 3-months (started the end of December 2005), and feel ready, then please try to be there. (BE ON TIME!)

Between 17-19 February 2006, Renshi Tom and Sempai Mac had a very successful meeting with the Founder of the World Kobudo Federation® and Jiu-Jitsu International®, U.K., Prof. Soke Richard Morris in Phuket.
